Yes, West Coast Fencing Academy runs summer fencing camps in Austin. They are one-week day camps in June and in August, Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, for children and teens aged 6 to 18, beginners and experienced fencers alike. A week costs $450, and for beginners the fencing equipment is provided and included in that fee. The exact weeks are announced by the club, so call Coach Pasha to ask which ones are set.

Who the camp is for
The camp takes children and teens from 6 to 18. A child who has never held a sabre is welcome: beginners and experienced fencers both come, and beginners get the fencing kit as part of the fee. Our club teaches sabre; sabre, foil and épée explains what that means.
If your child is 4 or 5, the camp is not for them yet, but our regular Saturday class is: ages 4 to 6, 9:00 to 10:00 AM, starting with a free class. At what age can kids start fencing? goes through every age.
What the week is about
The club describes its camps in its own words: focus, concentration, reaction speed, coordination, confidence, discipline, sportsmanship, and an active summer away from screens. Fencing itself is a sport of short, fast actions against one partner at a time, with a referee or coach who starts and stops every exchange; is fencing good for kids? explains what it asks of a child.
A day-by-day plan is not published yet. If you want to know what a camp day looks like, or what to pack, ask Coach Pasha when you call. The camp day runs from 9 to 2, so ask about lunch too.
Camp or regular classes?
They do different jobs. A camp is one concentrated week in the summer. Regular classes are weekly, in groups by age, on weekday evenings and on Saturday morning, and they start with one free trial class.
| What | Summer camp | Regular classes |
|---|---|---|
| When | One week in June or August, Mon-Fri 9 AM-2 PM | Weekly, evenings and Saturday morning |
| Ages | 6 to 18 | From 4, in groups by age |
| How to start | Sign up for a week | One free trial class |
| Price | $450 a week | Monthly, by group; see every price |
A child who enjoys the camp can carry on in the regular classes after it, and a child who already trains with us can use a camp week to fence more in the summer. Which group is right for my child? lists the regular groups.
